more trouble than it's really worth compared to a more costly laptop setup. If the system can handle tracking a few channels at a time it would cover a big part of how I actually record. For anything more complex, I could still use my multi-in/out iMac DAW and outboard equipment. The idea of saving couple of bucks on a simpler, more portable system by not needing a full blown computer, or an external HD is appealing. You lose a bit by having to purchase dedicated cables (with spares of course) that cost an arm and a leg compared to off the shelf USB or Firewire cables. Setup would certainly be quicker. Being a fairly new idea, there's not a lot on the web about it. So to all you smart guys, and gals. Any thoughts as to how an old guy should proceed?
