I forgot to introduce myself. I am a 26 year old guitar player from Norway who, after years of studying and economic despair, finally have a steady income and so I'm now ready to start building my studio. I look forward to learn from you guys and hopefully as my skills develop I can help out others.

So far I've got:
- sE2200A studio condenser mic
- Gibson LP Studio
- Bunch of pedals
- T-Rex Spindoctor preamp/overdrive unit
- Zoom H4n handheld recorder with phantom power

I am in the process of getting a couple of XTA C2 compressors and perhaps a Focusrite Saffire PRO 40 Audio Interface. After that I will probably get a mixer as my drummer is getting his drum mic setup. Right now I'm making music with drum samples so I don't need a mixer yet, right? My musical styles range from psychedelic rock to jazz. Will this setup let me record quality recordings?

I'm looking forward to learn the art of home recording. :guitar:

Can you tell me your experiences regarding Gibson LP Studio?

You don't really need a mixer. Better for drums is to purchase an interface with 8+preamps. Then you can have an individual track for each drum. A necessity in my opinion. But I'm a rock guy....

The LP Studio is a great sounding guitar if you're into sustained tones and low treble (as opposed to a telecaster). I would not recommend it for country music or jazz but for psychedelic rock heavier and deeper-sounding than Hendrix it is sweet sounding. It is a heavy weight axe so it might hurt your back on intensive touring.

The first thing I did when I got it was changing the tuners. The so-called "Gibson Deluxe"-tuners are, well, they suck. Put Grovers on the beast and it will purr in tune for ages.

I am however considering getting a Fender Jaguar as my psychedelic rock is moving more and more into the realms of shoegazing, a genre I know can be challenging to record properly.

Haha I like the username :D

Even though you've been here for 3 months, welcome to HR :)

Fellow space traveler, welcome.
Hey when you leave from here can I catch a ride with? You can drop me off anywhere near the Crab Nebula.
