intro for what might become my next classical exercise....

Nice work, SEDstar! I really like what I'm hearing so far.

The only constructive criticism I have is that the organ seems to overpower the other sounds to my ears. Perhaps the volume of the organ could be reduced or a "smoother" instrument selected instead, but that's really a personal preference thing, so please don't make any changes based on my tastes. I'm definitely looking forward to hearing this one evolve, my friend. Good work so far. :-)

Cheers,
Joseph :-)

icy.....

i hear you... (pun intended)... i also hear something "funny" in it... im *pretty* sure im using too many instruments at once, lol... all the individual 'verbs are, i think anyways (im no expert) "clashing" and summing up.

I say too many instruments, because, while making it? it was WEIRD...late in the example, I wanted to add something simple... a timpani, if it matters.... in this ONE spot (right where i wanted it) no matter WHAT i did? it would remain silent...

I'm like "what the *&^%!"

before there, fine... after there, again fine... but RIGHT where i wanted it? It would go silent...

LMAO... I had never "ran into" the poly-limit on the VST i was using. It was set to a limit of 48 poly's at once... I watched the CPU info, and i was trying to hit over 60 and 80 in places, LMAO...

I found a control that upped the limit, if the cpu allowed for it (it did, lol) and I was magically able to add my precious timpani right where i wanted it...

PS - there is no organ, LMAO... but, I know what you MEAN... I heard it too, its the first time I worked like this for the start. I USUALLY do all note melodys, "chords" and partial chords are formed by "accident" (actually in planned places, at regular intervals)

HERE, to get started using 3 voice harmony... i had an extremely simple melody, mostly chords, and arpeggiations... they get "farmed out" to separate instruments.

IE, instead of simply playing a "chord" on your guitar? Imagine you had several guitarists, with different sounds... and EACH of you played one of the notes makin up the chord?

but the "organ" thst isnt there... i *think* thats the cellos and the string section and the violins, the way they come together, it creates a sort of organ-like sound, in certain octaves.

PS - actually, I practically NEVER "write" by putting out chords around, then going in and filling in.... (which is how i picture traditional singer/songwriters strumming a guitar, working on a tune?) HERE, instead of tryign to take my classical "stufff" and cram it into a pop tune... (doesnt work like i picture it should, lol) I actually did the reverse... very little melody, almost ALL chords, I just layered up over so many instruments and sections, its not as noticeable

its simply the classical equivalent of if you (icy) were idly playing with a chord prog, strumming it, and very few fingered notes in with it? the chord prog sort of "becomes" the melody....

i'm hoping i can go back and in other places, write in my fashion I normally make these things like, and be able to use it back and forth, and maybe together (I'm not sure its gonna work, lol)
