Has anyone heard about this competition or entered it in the past?
It's closing in a couple of weeks so not much time left to submit.
I'd be interested in your comments. opinions about this or any other songwriting competition.

I entered, didn't win,

and received lots of spam afterward from all sorts of folks who "heard" my music and tried to help me get richer. (After making me a bit poorer first.)

But what the hay? It IS a contest and someone has to win. I would feel a lot better if it was actually someone from this forum who I knew. (Like ido1957 :D:D)

For me, I will spend my time, dollars, and dreams in other ways to promote my music. jmho, Dave.

I'm leary of online song competetions.. I've seen one where the winning entry was a song about the website itself. Cute song? sure. Imaginative? Definately. But marketable? Hardly. Case in point, I've yet to hear it on the radio on any station, :)

There are a couple of sites I've been thinking about trying; some claim that they have songs that have gone on to be big national hits, but I haven't done the research to validate those claims.. how DOES one validate if a hit song started out as a contest winner online, anyhow?

My main stumbling block is that I'm 99% lyricist so even if I have a tune in mind, I don't have a way top communicate that yet. Also, I've found how to register copyright for music/lyrics, but still haven't a clue how to go from there to see if anybody'd be interested in recording a JDBlessing orginal. Darn good thing I don't depend on my writing to make a living...so far I've been paid compliments but no $. I've tried, but none of my creditors, or landlord, will take compliments in lieu of $, so I'm "forced" to find other means to get money, like work. (No slur intended towards any folks out there who are more successful than myself at songwriting/singing for a living.)
