I've been using CuBase LE for a couple of years and have recently bought the upgrade to Essential 4. Have not installed it yet and notice that on the box it says "internet connection required for activation" or something close to that.

I've never connected my recording computer to the internet in an attempt to keep it from any getting any malware, virii, etc.. I have not installed any anti-virus programs as I don't want anything slowing down my machine (on-access scanning, e.g.).

1. Does anyone know if there is a manual way to activate without connecting to the internet?
2. If not, how long does it take to do the internet activation?

Thanks for your advice. This is a great forum.

P.S. Anyone know a crack for a Cubase dongle? J/K !!!!!!

Internet activation should literally take about 5 seconds.

I did the exact same thing as you. Upgraded from LE to Essential 4. If I remember correctly, the only thing that you need the internet connection for is to activate the dongle. You can install the software on however many computers that you want, but you have to have the dongle to use the software. I would take the dongle to a computer with an internet connection and activate the dongle, then use the dongle on your DAW.

Second yert33's response. It's actually not made entirely clear but you infact only have something like 30 days use of the dongle (and therefore the software) before you have to download the licence using the licence control centre and this can be done on any computer because once it is done it is stored on the dongle not the computer.
