'pretty much speaks for itself. It`s the real thing.. I enjoyed

I certainly hear the Samicide arranging. The violen playing is great, but very harsh, roomy sounding to me. It sounds 'overdubbed'.

This music is great. ...all around. ..a little abstract, but that's ok. Reminds me of some of the old Rick Wakeman stuff... Does it to you, David?

very nice piece

who plays the violin like that?
thats fantastic!

I can tell when Sam comes in.. very interesting.

Great job!

Thanx folks,

Sam has never heard this. I have had two projects for a while that I needed to get to (AlChuck and me doing Zappa is ready too).

Sam deserves the credit, I just play the fiddle.

Mixmkr, the fiddle is horribly harsh. I really need a mic and a pre-amp. This violin is VERY expensive, and it sounds like shit when I record it. I have an Avlex Condenser mic, running through a Spirit Folio Mixer, which is not the best unit.

I will redo this, but I wanted to get something posted. BTW, Sam recorded this in a different key, I moved it up a half-step.

wow.........this is really nice. Yeah, that violin cant be cranked up to loud in these headphones.....whew. Really fantastic playing though...... by all involved. Very inventive sam..... and David, i thought you were just the picture guy.......... very nice violin man.

I don't think the violin sounds that bad... I bet if you play around with mic placement and maybe some EQ... or maybe try a pickup on the violin and blend the mic sound with the pickup sound, playing with the levels until you shave that slight trebly stubble off of it...

Beautiful playing, very nice piece of music-- kudos to all!

yeah David... can you just screw a pickup on that fiddle?

or just hot glue it on, if you are afraid of drilling into that thang....

on a more serious note (read, less destructive), agreeing with AlChuck, moving around looking for a mic placement ....or more so a room, might be your ticket. Otherwise, it'll probably sound like one of those cheap-ass $25,000 fiddles.....

:D :D :D :D :D

This is a cool soothing composition, props to Sam. And the violin is playing is sweet. I realy enjoyed it, thanks :D

wow!! Dave, that is the best violin playing I ever heard.... by anyone..... anywhere...

I have to say though, the violin is extremely hot on my speakers over here.... in the beginning especially it is crackling.. I had to dive for the volume knob..

other than that, I love it.. It makes me wish I arranged it differently.. maybe next time you can send me some violin and I can come up with some tones to support it..

thanks for doing it Dave! I can't wait to play it for some people over here.. (hopefully after a remix?) :)

Your wine, sir....

Excellent.

1:35...Sam, I know you'd like a chance to go back and re-arrange, but the synth right after the real violin is tough to swallow. Just such a drastic change, but I know this was basically a 2 step process.

I would like to hear this again if you guys worked it out some more. David, some strong feeling there buddy. I like it. A lot.

damn.... excuse me while i wipe away my tears.....

very nice. what kind of room are you in davidk? what medium are you recording to?

wow.....THAT was great violin .....man...i didnt expect that atall...very nice job..!!!.ok....the phantom of the opera part was sorta out of place.....to me anyway...prety nice keys throught out tho as a whole....
....and here comes the phantom again.....hehehe...
nice work.

This tune inspires me to do great things. The sheer artistry and the mastery of the instrument is awe-inspiring.

Funk on!

Very Nice

You've already got tons of props on this ... just wanted to add mine. This sounds excellent! The violen playing is top notch and the arrangement is interesting!

Great collaboration! :)

Fuck me. How did I miss this one. Holy shit David, that kicks serious ass. And Sam, between the two of you it was like listening to an undiscovered Yes track. The full ranks was Wakeman. David, maybe try reducing the preamp gain and mic-ing closer to get some of the room out of the mic. Regardless though, your playing FAR outpaces any recording deficiencies.

Hey, thanks

Thanx for checking this tune out, friends:)

I can play the fiddle, but the recording bit is still a pain in the ass.I am used to playing in studios and having geeks do the dirty work, so I will try harder if I get a group hug.

Sam is quite a talent. This tune needs some help, but check out the last 40 seconds: this sounds great. Sam needs to listen to more classical music, I really wish he would move to Cleveland, because he has some serious ideas, and they just flow out of him.

The last 40 seconds could be a great new-age piece, it is some great music.

I haven't heard violin like that since the last Jean Luc Ponty concert I saw!!!

Really Nice!!!

It is a big change when Sams synth hits but in all this is a really interesting piece.
You guys really are looking for new ground! Its great to hear stuff like this, this is exactly what this BBS is about!

This has made me think.........
And that hurts!

Thanks for sharing!

I just HAVE to do this

I was pretty happy with Sam's arrangement, but he really should have put some fucking cowbell in the mix in order for me "get into" it more

hehehehe :D

Okay, now for the serious part. Sam, you know how much I hate you, so you can believe me when I say that I think your arrangement of this is stellar. G R E A T ! ! Well thought out, emotive, and "fresh," - it stays on an edge, without going over the cliff.

Speaking from some (very recent) experience (like, yesterday), EQ'ing Dave's instrument from between 1K and 2K, Q=2, (-4db) warms it up A TON on the higher notes, so whoever ends up with the tracks might give it a shot.

DavidKemperSSSSSSS - You just kick ass, but you know that already, so you don't need some hillbilly's opinion on your skills. Just wanted to stop by and tell you that I've almost finished...ummmm...another tune that I'd like you to hear (with the EQ stuff I was talking about)...using the best of 4 tracks. Glad to see you're as generous with your talent as you are with your requests for increased cowbell levels.

Cool to both of you (except Sam, whom I hate :D)

bye
