I know there must be a solution for this, but so far, no luck . . . .

I have been using an old iMac running Digital Performer and Unisyn in OS 10.4. I have now mostly finished migrating to a new one running OS 10.8.

The problem is that Unisyn doesn't run in the new OS. I have hundreds if not thousands of patch edits stored in Unisyn. I need to, at least for the time being, be able to access and edit with Unisyn but have it all interfaced with the rest of the system.

I have at least one hardware synth that has to be able to send to and receive from BOTH computers.

I'm running MIDI through a MOTU micro lite, using 2 of the unit's ins and outs.

Someone at a popular retail store assured me that this would be no problem to configure, but perhaps he made a promise he was unable to keep. Can anyone perhaps suggest a way to make this work? thanks!

This may not help, but could you set up a virtual machine (eg VirtualBox) running 10.4 on your new imac?

complicated!!!!!!

Wow, this is getting so complicated! I thought it'd be a simple matter of using a Y connector or something. I'm just completely overwhelmed by all of this technology . . . when can I get back to making MUSIC?!?

I've been getting a few suggestions, but none of them show much promise. The virtual box thing seems like a good idea, but w/o knowing how it would work, as a practical matter it just seems like another software issue that could go wrong... isn't there a way to connect a cable or 2 via a merge or splitter box or something? I used to use Y cables to send signals to more than one place, isn't there a way to do that via MIDI?
Thanks for the reply though, really

Well I know next to nothing about midi. But these products look interesting: MIDI Solutions Products

The merger and the router caught my eye.

Is Unisyn likely to be ported up to OS 10.8?

Unisyn is a dinosaur

Thanks for the reply, no, Unisyn is not being supported any longer or updated. And there is no other software that will import my existing files.

Hi there,
Apparently unisyn isn't supported in 10.5 or after, but I read a post about a guy who has it running in 10.6.8

I know you're on a later system, but I might be worth looking into that. I think he said it was version 2.1.1? Does that sound right at all?

I think there was mention of not being able to install it on a newer system, so I guess he copied the application over manually.
