Interface Recommendation

I'm looking to pick up a Firewire interface for my home studio that's about $500-1000. I looked online and found five that I like (from expensive to cheap):

MOTU 896HD
M-Audio ProFire 2626
PreSonus FireStudio 2626
MOTU Ultralite
PreSonus FireStudio Project

Does anyone have any experience with these units? Are any of them not worth the cost or maybe there are some that are good deals for the price? Anyone have any recommendations for other units in this price range?

I had terrible luck with the Firestudio, and wouldn't reccomend it to even my worst enemy. Pick something else. My personal favorite is RME.

i really like my mackie onyx 400f. it's in your price range and it's got decent preamps
