Interesting reading on the new Athlon XP's and chipsets...

My favorite review place, anandtech.com... they have the most thorough reviews you can find. Here is some interesting info on the Athlon XP VS. Pentium 4. Good shit, this is good times again for DAW users...

This review is about 10 pages long, but check it out, read it all... the 1.3 ghz Athlon XP (the XP1500) consistently kills the Pentium 4 1.9ghz, and sometimes the 2.0GHZ... compare prices between the XP1500 and the P4 2.0... Yeah... considerable.
Also look around about the info on the new Via chipsets... they supposedly put last years AMD 760 to shame, speedwise and stability wise. I think its time to change my mind about what I'm buying, here.

i've found the AthlonXP 1600+ to out perform a P4 2gig with ease
 
Good to hear... thats like $140 cheaper too.... what mobo are you using, and do you ever lock up? What software and soundcards?
 
Just for reference, if you ever have trouble with some computer related, the forums at Anandtech can be VERY helpful.
