I'm starting to spec out my next DAW to build. I know Carillon Audio Systems uses this MB for their $3300 system with a Pentium P4 2.8GHz CPU. Uses RDRAM. Anyone have experience with this board or read up on it? I would be using it with a couple of Aardvark Q10's and a Matrox G450 dual head video card if that makes a difference.

Carillon also uses an Asus P4B533 motherboard with Pentium P4 2.53GHz CPU in their $1600 system. Uses DDR Ram. Comments?

Thanks,
DD

Either system is already obsolete, by today's standards. I don't know why they are still using 2002 parts.

Build your own, or find someone that can. And if you miss the dumb controls on the front, go buy an Evolution UC33 or something. :D

I always build my own. I'm just now starting to research motherboards for this next one. I built the last one 2 years ago so I'm a little behind the curve (or on the curb:D ) on what's out there now. I don't want the latest, greatest, fastest because I really just can't afford it. That's why I'm looking at CPU's around 2.8GHz. Any info or push in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Get one of the Asus or Abit i865/i875 chipset boards. 800Mhz FSB + hyperthreading, dual channel ram etc. Do a search on this board - there's been quite a bit of discussion recently on the best board for audio
