Im looking at a cheap computer solely for recording, however it says it has integrated sound card, so if i get it will i be able to put in and use my delta 1010lt or not?

Yes, as long as it has a spare PCI slot. You will need to go to the sound settings of the computer and change it from the default intergrated souncard to your delta 1010lt.

Or Firewire or, if need be, USB port.

IRQ stands for Interrupt Request. Basically it's an I/O address that allows a piece of hardware to communicate with the CPU. Sometimes devices will share an IRQ and the OS will decide when to use which. Usually this works out OK, but never seems to work out OK with sound cards. You can check the IRQ table in your computer's post screen or in the BIOS. Sometimes you can change the IRQ via the OS, however, if that doesn't work, moving the card to a new PCI slot will do the trick.

If you want to, you can also disable the on-board sound via the BIOS, but I think that was only an issue years ago with particular chipsets. I haven't heard anything in a while about on-board audio causing issues, and I know nForce audio seems to coexist fine with my Audiophile 2496.

Well the Delta 1010lt is a PCI soundcard, so having a firewire or usb isnt essential..

I hope your not going to be searching for my posts now mate and trying to prove me wrong on them all?

My bad. And no...only when you post bullshit.

make sure you go in bios and turn off the integrated audio and that will help getting rid of irq problems with the two audio sources....
