ok, I've posted this one before, but I've gone back and revised it about a million times. I think I've officially done. All I need now is some vox (wink wink).

This sounds great Boz but I think Tool'd be peeved that you've copped their signature sound.
Great recording & playing.
Does need a vocal & lyrics doesn't it.
Dis you ever finish (I mean vox etc) that lovely piece you had up several monbths ago?

Sounds great ot me. Really dig the kick sound, what kit are you using?

Beautiful! Really great track....
yeah maybe inspired by Tool, but what the hell, we all have our inspirations. Great recording. Are the drums real? Snare sounds real good. Guitars sound great too, how did you record them? And I really like your bass sound, especially with the chorus on it, is it direct? Well done ;)

Cheers
Joe :D:D

Thanks for the comments. I actually had never really listened to Tool before I recorded this song. Someone pointed out to me that the little bass intro sounded like some tool song, and when I heard it, he was right. Too late to change it now.

The drums are fake. I used EZDrummer. I spent a lot of time trying to get them to sound real, so it's good to hear that the fakeness isn't too obvious. I used amplitube ampex for the bass, and GR3 for the guitars. So in the end, it's all fake. It makes it easy to record stuff after the kids go to bed.

As for getting vocals, that's where I turn completely retarded. I can't really sing that well, so whenever I try to come up with a melody, I picture myself singing, so nothing really sounds good. At some point I either need to learn to write music with other people, or learn to play the guitar better so I can do some satriani style songs.

Don't try to change anything, sounds great as it is. And I wouldn't use the term fake for the instruments. It's just one way of doing things and it serves the song well. ;)
