Instrumental blues rock

Hey man, I love this sound you have here. The tone on the lead is great. Cool echo reverb effects, sets a cool kind of dramatic movie mood. Might need some more bass in there, but it's hard to tell on this system. Nice playing too, interesting all the way through. I write a lot of instrumentals too cause I'm not great at vocals too, so sometimes it's hard sometimes to keep things interesting for a longer song. I'm digging this though. Not sure how you'll fit vocals in, unless maybe you cut the lead in places or something.

Yeah man, nice work ;)

Nice playing there. Good guitar tone also. If I were you, I wouldn't be afraid to do vocals. I totally blow at singing, and still do, just because I have way too many instrumentals. If nothing else, someone who can sing, will at least try and help you get a little better.
You should try and liven the drum track up a bit, as that will really help this song. The playing is good, and mixed well, so it doesn't need much.
Ed

Hmmm, considering my own stuff too, I've wondered if it's more interesting to do a good track with bad vocals or just keep it a good instrumental.

That's totally up to you, man. I can't play lead, so all my tunes are missing something. You put good melodies into your tunes, so they sound like they were written as instrumentals. All mine are written for lyrics, and I have pages of lyrics, just seems there is no direction for vocals at times. If I learn to sing better, well then, I might just be the next Rami.... :D

Haha, I notice the difference in writing style. Like you and Rami the songs are a lot more geared toward the lyrics, which is cool. Myself, I'd say I write "instrumentals with lyrics." Which I don't mind, when writing a song it's always built around guitar parts with lyrics thrown on top. I'm a guitar player first ;)

Radiohead, I'm not trying to take over your thread with blabber about my own stuff.
Everybody here>>>> listen to his track, I recommend it :D

Blabber away Snake!!! I think the most mental stimulation I get all day is when i come onto these forums, which some days can be a scary thing. :-)

I'm quite psyched to see "Walk the Line" when it comes out, anyone else?

Blabber blabber blabber :D Haha, I know what you mean. It's like a ritual now to come home after a long day, get the guitar out, grab a beer, and come surf these forums. Fun stuff.

Walk the Line looks well done. I'm really behind in movies though, hopefully I'll see that and catch up on everything soon. I have very little time now since i'm addicted to playing my guitar!! :D

Dude, just listening.

Really really neat soloing. I like the blues tone a lot.

The drums are too in front. Wait a really neat part came on on the guitar at 1:26. Back to what I was saying, the drums feel a little too loud. The rest of the instruments have that big stadium (or alone in a big endless room) feel. But the drums are in the front and dry. So to me they are distracting.

I would like some reverb on the drums and sort of push them back a little. As is, it feels that the guitars are at a distance at the center of the football stadium performing this amazing tune, but the drummer feels like he's in a small sized closed room.

I like all other instruments at their current level of mixing and panning and volume and FX and so on.

I can't say enough about how much I like this tune. I would definitely listen to this again.

Around 5:00 in the song when it ends, I would really like to see it fade into the sound of ocean/running water. Thus giving that cheesy 80s november rain feel. Cheesy but I love it.

The intro seemed to have the amp noise in the first couple of seconds. I don't know it you want to keep it or not. I would say remove it and put the drums into the distance and start exactly how the song starts.

I like it a lot.

Bigbubba-thanks for the review. With this song I think I've found my comfort space with the bass as far as EQ and volume goes. Next, it's on to drums, and I'll see what I can do with them the next time I go down and mess around on my recording machine. Slowly, I'm becoming less of a guitarist as far as "MY GUITAR MUST BE LOUDER THAN EVERYTHING", and I do appreciate everyones input very much.

Snakedog-from what i've heard both the actors for the Johnny Cash movie, Joquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon, sing all their own parts, which I think is amazing. And being addicted to recording is most excellent!

Dogman-glad you liked the tune. I was considering trading in my maple neck strat a while back, but when I picked up the big muff pedal and combined it with the marshall distortion, I fell in love with guitar playing all over again.

How are you getting the distortion? How is the reverb put on (hardware or software [like free plugin])?

I like it a lot and would like to see if I can keep the gear in mind next time I'm out spending money on gear. I would really like to get this tone (dist/reverb) out of my guitar.

Listening again. Sounds like you're just having fun. Oh and the rhythm is also really cool and steady. Again, very nice piece. :)

The guitar tone is an american series strat with a maple fretboard through a marshall JCM2000 Dual super lead. The distortion is a combination of the marshall amp on the lead 2 channel and an electroharmonix big muff pedal. The delay on the lead guitar is from an electro harmonix memory man. I'm as behind as can be as far as plugins can go. I've tried recording stuff on the Sonar software i bought, but for me it's just easier to punch into a recording machine.

And yeah, I was just noodling around and letting loose when I was playing the lead track. The rhythm part was finger picked by me on the same strat, but just with the big muff distortion to give it that grainy quality, and I thought it sounded pretty good.

By the way, when I said you sounded like you were having fun, I meant having fun in the same sense that Slash used to have fun. the solo was absolutely gorgeous and I did not notice anything that could be charted up to noodling. :)

I saw on TV where during a solo Slash dropped his cigerette down his pants and still finished the solo. What dedication.

That's depressing that with two cigarettes in his pants he had enough space that the two didn't come in contact with each other.

haha, considering I've always seen Slash with super tight leather pants, I dont know how he'd fit TWO cigerrettes down there!

LOL. That's funny. I've also only seen him in leather jackets and leather pants. I've never seen him with a shirt on. Not even when they won any awards. There was one picture on Yahoo lately, where Axl was wearing a hideous orange jacket but Slash was still jacket and pants.

Slash is still cool. I wonder why he's doing this whole wet revolver crap with bunch of whoevers. He should go smack Axl in the face, steal the Guns 'n Roses title and start releasing new stuff. Axl can still go be a hit in China. Who cares? He was cool in the beginning but when he started pissing off Slash, I somehow didn't like him much after that.

But this is what will freak you out.

I do like Slash's guitar work very much, however after I bought the new velvet revolver album with high hopes, I was quite disappointed. He seems to be just slogging through the album uninspired, not his usual on fire self, you know.

And that article about AXL Rose is just distrubing, did you know he did the voice of the classic rock station DJ on the latest Grand Theft Auto video game. Weird. . .

Slash is the man. He was a big influence when I first started playing, and I agree that his work on that new album wasn't up to par. There was some cool stuff, it just seemed like he could do so much more with it.

ALright onto the main event... you guys owe me for this pic OF AXL ROSE (just so anybody doesn't think that's me :p ):
