How would I go about installing a plugin and then using it in Cool Edit 2.0? I can't really figure it out, thanks.

When you install a directX plug in, it should automaticly associate itself with programs that utilize them. The way it's been with me, I install the plug from the disc and the next time I launch my audio program (Soundforge, Cakewalk, etc.) the program "scans for plug ins" and they're there as DirectX plugs everytime.

also...under "EFFECTS" in Edit Mode (the single wave view mode), click on "Refresh Effects List."

If that tab is not there, or if the "Direct X" tab is not there under the EFFECTS tab, you don't have the plugin installed correctly.

What if it's from the internet?
same freaking thing. just click on the icon to install it after you've downloaded it...oh, and don't get creative on the folders...let it install itself in whatever default folder it wants to. I installed some in the CEP folder once, and things got screwey.

Remember, downloading a plugin is only 1/3 of the job. You have to unzip it (probably), and then you have to run the installation. The CEP should see it.

I checked earlier today where it went and it went in the main folder I guess, it has other effects in there from CEP but they seem to have different file formats to them compared to the ones I downloaded.

So did you ever run the "setup.exe" or similar file to install the plugin?

...are you sure it's DirectX plugins ? not VST ones ? what is it anyway ? I bought many plugins for years and have no problem installing 'em.

I think the ones I have have .fxb files along with a .dll file. I see no set up file of any sort.

Yes, yes.. I do. I just downloaded them off some site. Can someone suggest a place to get some plugins that should work?

....why don't you just answer what was the name of the damn plug ins you just download ? Where did you download it ?

Thanks I'll look into 'em. Sorry, I didn't see your post. I have no idea where I got them now.
