Here's a question that I've been wondering. Everyone on here, has had inspiration from numerous people, at different times.

Answer individually, Who is your biggest inspiration?

To be honest, mine started with 2Pac, went into Eminem, and I started when I met my buddy Classified(Luke). Not sure if anyone has heard Class or not, but he's pretty good, about 10000x better than I'll ever be. But, yeah.. List who your inspiration is. I'd like some idea's if I haven't heard the song/artist, so I can wreak the same if not any inspiration from the same song/artist.

Thanks in advance...

Jimi Hendrix

Dinosaur Jr.

Five Eight

Does that help? :D

Heard them all.

Love them all, in their own way.

But, unfortunately, that does not help. Why? Because I didn't be precise in the fact I was pointing more at HipHop Inspiration...Although, very good choices never the less.

Thanks, anyways. :D

Well to continue to stomp all over your hip-hop intentions. My primary inspirations:
Wierd Al
Smashing Pumpkins (Specifically Billy's vocals)
Independent and obscure punk (Dead Kennedys, Pain, etc.)

i'm a rock guy for the most part......but i love me some hiphop and gogo. not so into the whole "gangsta" thing and i'm not too into the modern "rap" these days, but whatever. unless you're from the DC area, you might not be too into (or familiar with) the gogo music, but it encompasses the best elements of hiphop, RnB and latin percussion with a little rock thrown in.

anyway, my hip hop inspirations are pretty old school.

Chuck Brown (father of gogo, baby!)
The Fat Boys
Whodini
Run DMC
Public Enemy
Cypress Hill

I've always felt that Eminem was a spectacular lyricist--very much the Dylan of his genre and generation.

That's fine, I love rock as well. Great choices, to be honest. I like them all, as well. Not so much into the Punk Rock, type of genre, But they are decent.

Interesting.. Well, I live in Montana, and it's pretty oldschool here.. But, alot of people are getting into the "newer" hiphop genre's, I don't like pretty much any of the newer artists, I hate 50 cent, I don't like anyone from G-Unit, except Tony Yayo, and The Game, before he was out.. But, pretty much none of the new artists are any worthy of my listening.. I love Eminem though, he's been my inspiration for years.. but Classified (A canadian local artist) is the one that put me into this.. Because he made me think I could make it, so now I have to try my hardest.

Thanks for the comments.

Those are my main inspiration. They're not technically hip-hop, but hip-hop blows, so its all good. :) :p

Good choices, actually. I don't really like The Misfits, but the rest are ok. The best one you chose was Kiss, in my opinion.

P.S. Hip Hop doesn't blow. :P

The 'new' Misfits are pretty lame, but the Danzig-era Misfits were great.

In chronolgical order...

Rossini
Beatles
Crimson
Yes
Stravinsky
Dregs
Metheny

Great question.

:D Nice list Jeffree:

Cab Calloway---Andre Previn
Lena Horne

DANNY KAYE [watched him do 5 stage shows--hated to see the movie 5 times but he was GREAT.

Frankie Lane

Beatles

Johhny Raye

The Lou Breeze Band at the old Chicago Theater

Earl Bostic [met him in Chicago and his bass player was a dude I spent time with in the Navy. Small world.

Paul Humphrys--was a drummer with L. Welk
[Worked with Paul in a Navy band for one year--great guy]

And, last, but not least, Dick Reynolds--keyboard master and one wonderful human whose money I enjoy taking on the golf course. [He was at my studio a couple of times and each time it was a great learning experience for me.]

Green Hornet :D   :) :D

Great choices as well.

What's funny is I haven't had anyone answer their inspiration for HipHop, except one. (Sort of). The rest has been rock / classic rock, responses.

Which is fine, I love both era's, but I was more hinting towards the hiphop side of things, Oh well. :P

:D

Thanks for posting!

My hip-hop inspiration is the Fat-Boys. Dee Dee Ramone made a funny attempt at a rap career too. :D
