Im using a motu 896 as my interface using firewire going into Sonar 5 producer...computer is pretty solid 2.8ghz 512ram etc etc etc...problem is i cant figure out how to monitor something without the track thats being recording having an extreme delay issue....im estimating here but its about half a second...which makes it impossible to line up with previously recorded tracks...ie doing vocals overtop a previously done guitar track....please someone tell me how to remidy this problem...or what im doing wrong...if you need more info just let me know!

I use a Motu 2408. Look in programs-Motu-cuemix console. This should help you. I think then you may have to bring down the levels in Sonar so you dont hear those delays. I monitor with a console. I hope I'm right on this.

I had the same problem cpl weeks back. I have an Maudio mobile pre I had to go into options-audio-advanced- and select "ASIO" as my driver mode. Then under the same panel go to input monitoring, and deselect all drivers shown. Thats what I did and it solved my problem....hope it helps

The above will help, but the issue you are experiencing is latency. The most idel situation is to have latency down to around 5-8ms. Depending on if you are using ASIO drivers or WDM drivers depend on how you set it. WDM should just be a slider (now I'm typing from work and it's been a while), under Options - Audio, or if ASIO, it's set through the samples in the control panel.

Once that is down you shouldn't hear that delay. Also, if you do go to far you can get audio drop outs.... so you have to marry up latency for number of tracks if you know what I mean...

If my memory doesn't fail me, you're right. And reducing the buffer-size (set it to 2 or something) will help too.

It's been years since I've used WDM-drivers... ;)
