I'm working on overdubs to a scratch track. I need the scratch in one side of the headphone and the new input I'm recording to go in the other side. I panned the scratch to one side so I've got that, but I don't know if there is a way to make the track I'm recording be heard in the other side only.

I think it really depends on what gear your using. Can you list the chain that is recording the new track?

You could simply plan the track (that you're recording your voice on to) to the whatever side you want it to be on? If you're using an interface from the mbox series, make sure the "mix" knob is correctly set...

I'm using mbox 2 mini. I panned the pt scratch track to the left and tried panning the input track I'm recording to to the right but it didn't make a difference. I have the mix knob set to a little scratch and a lot of input....Thanks for the help.

try panning the other track to the right, because i think the default input of protools is the left, because I know on the mbox if I don't press the button on it the input only comes in on the left side, so try that.

that's your problem then. mixing in some of the input with the "mix" knob will feed the input to both left and right. If you want to use panning, you'll need to set the mix to being exclusively the pro tools return. If you're having latency problems, set your buffer to as low as possible.
