Input for Acoustic Panel layout

I'm setting up my spare room as a mixing room. I wanted to get some input on of the layout of acoustic panels I'm planning on building.
The is 10' x 11' with an entryway. One wall and one corner is 8' then slants up to 9'.
It will be about 40% total wall coverage, it may look like more but it isn't if you figure in the windows and doors aren't being treated.
And I am not treating the ceiling at this time.
The colors are close of the walls and panels are very close to actual.

It's really not clear what you're doing here. Where's your desk going to be - the 'North' wall? You want to put traps (or superchunks) ACROSS the corners wherever possible. Then panels at points of first reflection on the side walls. A ceiling cloud over the listening position really helps, too.
What are these acoustic panels? 4" traps with OC 703/705?

Agreed with the above, we need some more information.
With acoustic treatment, the goal isn't just to get a specific % of area covered. You've got to look at hitting important, specific points. Straddling corners for bass trapping. Panels at early reflection points for phasing issues. Rear wall for bass and reflections. Upper walls for flutter echo. Etc. You can use the following as a guide: Acoustical Room Advice - GIK Acoustics
Also some of the info in our Acoustic Primer may help a good bit: Room Acoustics Primer - GIK Acoustics

Listen to Alexander and GIK - one of the good places in the industry! (not selling smoke-and-mirrors "portable vocal booths" made out of moving blankets!)

The desk will be on the east wall, in front of the window.
I may also be using the room to record some acoustic guitar and vocals in.
I forgot to bring my rta mic home from church. I will get it tomorrow and shoot the room to see how it sounds.

Ventage JBL4312B for now till I can afford new monitors.
but I do have to say this is the best these sparkers have ever sounded.

Sorry it took me so long to respond, my day job is trying to take over my life.
I do appreciate everyones input.

Because of the closet, you room is almost square, which is not good, but I would still put the desk on the wall across from the closet so the windows are on your right, this will at least give you some symmetry when monitoring.. If the closet is full of clothes, open the doors for some rear wall absorption.

You've got your speakers in the corners with no bass trapping behind them - not good, as bass frequencies will build up and amplify themselves giving a distorted frequency image.

If I put the desk across from the closet the windows will be to my right.... I don't want an uneven reflection from glass window that won't be treated.
So to keep uncontrollable reflections balanced, the window will either be in front of me or behind me.

As for bass traps. I shoot the room and found with no testament that there is a 60Hz boost and the speakers cut off at 45Hz.
I have been looking at the best, and most cost effective way to make the corner bass traps.

This may sound different, but one cheap and well worth the investment I did (I face a double window with h-blinds) Buy some super weight curtains. Get the kind with the holes in the top (see my studio build on this site (BroKen Studios) helps break up frequencies to have the curtains vertical and the blinds horizontal (my guess). All I know is it helped deaden the room before I put any trapping up (besides the corner traps--always the first place to start). Then I put a ceiling cloud directly over my head. Trapping after that could have been minimal as the room was pretty dead, but I went ahead and overtrapped on JHBrandt's advice that you can never overtrap a room.

Interesting about the curtains, but I like being able to see out the window. lol

All good advice, especially about treating just specific spots. There is a mirror test to locate them. I'll see if I can find the link in case it is not in the link offered. They always recommend that the floors be hardwood, but it is what it is. It would help to see what you're using to make your panels. Good luck. I'm doing a similar room myself; it's 10' by 11'. The closet suggestion is a good one. Good luck,

I almost forgot. Blackout drapes on the window. I think someone mentioned drapes but the blackout ones work really well to dampen sound from outside as well as covering the glass and blocking out light.

I do understand the treating of first reflections and second reflections. that is great for the minimum treatment.
I am wanting to minimize the amount of sound escaping the room. Without any treatment and the door open at 75db can be heard throughout the house.

Bass traps are not going to keep the sound from getting out of the room. But they will make the sound better in the room.

Yeah man, there really is nothing you can do to stop sound transmission to other rooms without tearing out walls or building new ones inside the existing room. Just not really possible.

lmao... some treatment is better then no treatment... more treatment is better then less treatment...

I'm at the point of making a decision and committing myself to it.

Commit man! Do it! :) Best investment I ever made...

You can deal with neighbors. You can't fake a good sounding room.

Man, I wish I had done this 10 years ago. My mixes improved more in the last 2 months from what I got out of my room than they did in 10 years of trying to learn how to do it with the room lying to me! BIG DITTO on what Jimmy said!

Most of my mixing is done at 60-65dB anyway. Just have to schedule time when the neighbors are gone or not going to mind loud to do finals....I like em around 90-93dB so I can see what it really sounds like.
