Thanks. Twas an interesting read. Nothing earthshattering - but a couple good ideas.
 
The mic on the snare shell trick is one of my faves, as is the room mic in the next room.
 
An earthworks on a kick? I wonder how that sounds? I never thought of using that particular mic for that particular job.
 
was it just me or did the drums on the sample track sound like they were recorded in a small room???? I don't think it was the power of suggestion, since they were recorded in a small room, but isn't his article about how to not get them to sound that way?

And isn't that a small diaphragm condensor mic on the bass drumm? Wouldn't you want a large dia. mic there to pick up the lower lows? I'll have to read more, maybe he had lows already from some other mic, but it wouldn't seem likely....

Does anyone like the sound the guy got on that track? (Mary in June)
 
Not a bad sound at all; good for the jazzy type of music he records.

I love chick Emo. That is nice. I listened a bunch to bad the thing just stops.
