I like this one better-less egg-thank goodness-and I like the 2nd voice in the chorus, makes for more of a distinction between the verse and chorus. Lead vocal still sounds a bit over-compressed-considering you seem to have good control over your vocals-but doesnt detract from my listening enjoyment---I probably wouldnt think of such a thing if this song popped on the radio for example. Thumbs up.

Officially a Dobro Fan!

Hey man, this is just great! It is getting to the point that if something has the name "Dobro" on it, I can go ahead and download it cos' I know I'm gonna love it.

Very cool vocals on this and nice bass line. I think you did a good job on the drums making them interesting and all of the levels sound good on these crappy speakers.

Another one for my own "Homerecrs" comp cd.

Good job!

:)

(of course, I am a fan of a lot of people on the board...but your stuff always inspires me to go in and try to record something, so that has to be saying something!)

Sam:

"Your songs are the type of tunes that make me want to dance around in my underwear in front of my girlfriend while lip syncing.. "

Well hey, we're getting down to the nitty and the gritty now. If I get my hands on $5K that I don't need I'm getting into DVD Video, so if that happens I'll get in touch with you, cuz to tell you the truth, the thought of you doing a dancing bear routine to this tune sounds better than Queen in drag doing Want to Break Free. But if your girlfriend ever pays attention to the lyrics that you're lipsyncing in this tune, you'll have some explaining to do. I know I did on my end. And I wasn't even in my underwear at the time. :D

Doug, Stratomaster - thanks *ever so much* for listening again - really useful. After listening to each tune fifty or a hundred times, I don't even hear a lot of what's going on it it after a while. This place is a reality check. :)

Hey Boyd - great! Should I start printing teeshirts? LOL

Ahh...the egg is sitting much better. If you want to get really picky about the egg (not sure that's a good thing to do) you could try some low end roll off. But enough about eggs!

The new vocals sound really good. Great song!

If you want another laugh at the Residents, check out the liner notes from the Commericial Album. A must read for all songwriters.

I`ll have some of of whatever it was that you had!!!! :)
This is the best kick sound i heard from you. The definition on the parts is pristine and clear as water. Vocals sound nice. Your one strange cat, I like that ;)

I enjoyed this a whole lot! Really great work.

Only changes that I suggest: Lower the shaker a little more and drop it out of the chorus. There needs to be that change up from the verse to the chorus and I don't think the chorus needs it while it provides a nice rhythm to the verse.

Try it for me and I will be back for another listen for sure! ;) :D

dob...

When the guitars come in, there's about 1/2 second of fuzz to trim (you've probably heard that).

Pretty good take-off on 12-bar. The "chorus" may benefit from a different bass drum & tom-tom sound... don't know why but they sound out of place there, esp. after the verse.

Good playing. Nice wide panning & use of compression on the "strings" in the choruses.

Mouth horns... can't seem to carry that whole instrumental break. Just a preference.

Shaker (to me) as it's used here indicates that the song will open up at some point. When it's used throughout, IMO it doesn't work.

Good effort here, do-bo.

Nice job. Since you seem to have "FIDEL" on the brain even with infidelity, here ya go. W/Cohiba cigar. Enjoy.

Toki - thanks for the kind words.

skids - took your advice about the shaker, and I'm listening to it to see how it sits with me - it changes the whole complexion of the chorus. :)

participant - thanks for all the ideas (that shaker attracts *way* too much attention... LOL). And thank you especially for the Castro pic. I'd thought about using a great big ol' cigar-sucking Fidel for the cover of the album, but I've had a different idea that won't get me into trouble with anybody's lawyers. :D
