inexpensive headphones for live studio jams

Any suggestions for inexpensive headphones to have in the home studio as #3, 4, and 5 headphones (i'll have 2 better sets, but want a full set to have around).

The main use will be for practice sometimes where all 5 of us will wear headphones. Would a pair like the AKG K55 ($30) or AKG K66 ($40) be good enough for jam/practice situation where we're all plugged into the board and listening thru headphones?

Any other brands that are cost-effective?

I have a couple of pairs of Pro2 cans for that purpose. They are cheap, quite robust and sound suprisingly good.

My brother ones took about ten of those silly cheap headset you get on a plane... I cut off the plugs, soldered a stereo jack on 'em and that's my low cost solution.

But it's kindof a different situation. My whole setup is based in one room, so these headphones are just for people that want to listen along. Me and the performer have better cans.

When jamming, I'd still want a good sound. Maybe I'm spoiled using my DT770's all the time, but I can't stand any consumer-headphones. Damn they sound bad.

Oh well, get some cheap cans, and tell them to bring there own if they want better...
 
i use seniheiser k100s they sound quite good with a little eq off the desk.all the band members use the same brand, so i know what every one else is hearing.but there about $180 au each.

whatever you buy, make sure everybody in the band has the same brand of headphone.

Yeah I use Sennheiser HD 477s , I like it when all ot the Headphones are the same model, so I bought 3 pairs.

once they are "burned" in they are quite good
very "non fatiguing"

i have a pair of k66's (my mother in law bought them for my birthday). i find they colour the sound a little, excellent for hi-fi use, not one bit fatiguing... unlike a lot of other cheapie headphones, i can actually listen to a c.d. the whole way through with these suckers... if they are #3,4,5 then they will suffice

if it's possible, i would go out and test a few makes and models

I have a pair of AKG K-301's That cost me about $40.00 and they are good enough to get you by. They are very loud at least. I usually give them to the drummer when recorging since he has the most natural sound to over come. I have a pair of K-240-df phones as well wich are way up the scale from the k-301 phones, flat response and all of that. They cost me about $180.00, but they are not loud enough for many live situations. Any way I am pretty pleased with akg as far as phones go. If you cant test a couple of sets I would.
