OK gang this is a question/test sort of thing. I'm curious to see which of the 2 mp3s posted you think is analog.....................

I mastered my new track "4 1/2 Minutes Of Whistle & Guitar" through my newly aquired revox B77 & also mastered it straight through digital as I normally do

the whistle will be replaced after my ol' man is more familiar & the mix will change as I'm messing with a few things for the 1st time, Watch this space for a plead for critique

SOOOOOOOOOOO which of these boings do you think is analog

I think 1 is analog. Not that there really is a significant difference, but half through, you apparently got a clogged head on the left channel.
The mix sounds awfully compressed to me. I wouldn't use compression on such a recording at all.

Don't know which is which but.....

#1 = muddier, whistle is more in the background. Hear/feel more compression.
#2 = cleaner, whistle is more up front. Hear/feel less compression.

:D :) :D :) :D

I'm not sure which is analog but #1 had more noise and distortion.

I think 1 is also analog but I would like to here both of them with out all the compression to.
This kind of song does not need to be loud. Mix at about -6 and let us here it there.

yeah compression...............I was playing around in general on every count & the mix was awfully compressed I must admit

must try again with no compression. It was good fun playing with it though must admit

ho hum de boing

I must unclog my head :D   or buy some new tape, BOTH :D :D
