I put this together over the weekend... it's a mellow folk-rock song (definitely skip this one if you're looking for Pantera). I'm not too happy with the vocals right now - I need to find someone else to sing it. But any comments on the EQ or other elements of the mix would be appreciated.

Dolphin Song

this song is excellent, I really like the vocals the way they are, many instruments are a little bit lacking in bass though the guitar sounds really nice though

JG96 - thanks for the feedback and I'm glad you liked the song. I had cut the bass a bit originally 'cause the mix was booming some on my monitors, but I'll add a bit in again. I might also add a bass guitar throughout (there's one on the refrain but not on the 'verse').

I tried a different miking technique for the acoustic gtr this time: at the 12th fret, and almost parallel to the fretboard plane. Seems to work pretty well. I read somewhere that this is/was the standard technique at BBC studios.

You've done right to cut a lot of bass from the guitars but you ought to fill that space with something - running the bass throughout'd work a treat.
the very harsh synth in the verse could use some taming - too looud & way too harsh - do some EQing on that too.
It's a really nice song.
Some work on the vox and the synths would really lift this.

This is a really nice song. The sort of music I am into, and hope to write soon.

My only thing I'm not a fan of is the fade out at the end.

Keep up the good work!

For a minute there I thought I was having an acid flashback. Very trippy. Nice song though, relaxing to listen to. I think the vocals suit the style of song. Overall I thought it was a good mix.
