Does anyone know which thread outlined the monitor stands made of PVC and toilet flanges? Can't seem to find it and I know I saw it here a while back.

-thanx

Not offhand, but you might be able to click "search" and look for "monitor stands" as the keywords.

Essentially its two toilet flanges glued (purple stuff) to a PVC pipe, and wood or MDF screwed to the flange, painted to a color of your choosing.

I just made some...

came out great! I put some spackle on the sides of the plywood, then sanded with 150 and 220 paper till smooth! Painted with krylon primer, then with the black krylon "stone" paint. Killer looks!

That would look nicer.

One of the versions "TNT stubby" used a long all thread rod along with routing a groove for the pipe and glue so you don't need to use the flange at all.

One center counter sunk screw and washer on each end clamps the two wooden ends together and no exposed bolts or screws on the flange on the bottom.

I may double the base board thickness to accomodate the threaded spike inserts I ordered and they come with adjustable lock nuts to level the stand on an unlevel surface ( or unleveled DIY job ).

I will either use my MoPads under the speaker on the stand or glue a soft rubber pad to the top of the stand.

I just use rubber drawer-liner. Cheap! De-couples just fine...

Are you serious? Drawer liners will de-couple monitors? Shoot! Wish I'd known that before I bought MoPads.

They will NOT work as well, but $0.89 later, I'm happy! :) :D

[EDIT] I will probably end up with some Mo-Pads eventually, but for now, I don't see the need.

Though he should update his pictures, my really ugly old 2x4 racks are long gone

I have to appologize... I have not been keeping up to date on this stuff at all! If anyone has pictures they want included in the home made gallery - let me know (include threads if possible). Otherwise, I'll go through and see what I can find. I have not checked in to this forum as much as I should lately... been busy recordin!

Cheers
Kevin.

Those drawer liners are also very sticky wich could be very nice with curious cats in the house!
