In the soundcard world, I'm lost.

I've got a Mobile Pre USB that I'm using and cruddy old PCI sound card.

Since I really don't know where to start, I'll ask a pretty general question. I'm doing hip-hop/R&B stuff in my closet, so what kind of sound card should I get? What kind of features should I be looking for?
 
what sources are you recording?

as in, are you working mainly with samples and just recording vocals? or do you have a whole bunch of stuff that you need to "actually" record?
