In the dark

Please help. I have the basic instruments needed to get a one man band going but... I have no idea what equipment I should get to record or what the heck I need. I know I'll need a computer to edit my music so not sure if I should go pc or Mac, this will only be for music recording, any thoughts? Also, keep in mind im not rolling in dough here.

This question gets asked all day every day round here. Do yourself a favour and read the responses to all the other posts... they're not hard to find.

Basically you need PC / software / interface + whatever instruments and microphones and cables are required to get the music to the start point. There are millions of possibilities here, however...
