In/out PL socket in mixers is mono or stereo ?

My Yamaha mixer got an XLR "low" in, PL "high" in and a PL "in/out" socket , for any of the channells.

I wonder if the in/out socket is stereo or mono ....?

That is what is referred to as an "insert". It's a mono in-out that allows you to "insert" a device such as a compressor or an external EQ. And also (which is VERY cool) it can be utilized as a direct output from that particular channel to the input of multi track recorder by tapping off just the "send" portion of the send -return of that jack. The output of this jack is just after the channel trim controll and before the EQ-fader portion of the channel strip in most mixers.

The plug that you put in the "in/out" jack is a "TRS" (Tip/Ring/Sleeve). You commonly need a "Y" cable with the TRS on one end and two single mono jacks on the other (one for "send"ing the signal to the outboard unit, the other for "return"ing the signal to the mixer).

Well, I guess the TRS was what I meant when I said "stereo"... I didn't mean for an actual stereo (two channel) output, but for a stereo jack connection (2 signals - one for an output and one for an input)..

The output of this jack is just after the channel trim controll and before the EQ-fader portion of the channel strip in most mixers.

so the EQ won't affect the out signal if I got you right ?...
