I have downloaded the trial version of Cakewalk Guitar tracks and playing around with it to see if I want to buy it.
I have used tacam and fostex multirack stuff in the past.
Strictly hobby stuff.
Hear is my problem.
I am putting on tracks straight into the mic in on my soundcard
I am able to record tracks and then hear them in playback -- fooled around with editing, adding effects etc

BUT HOW DO I HEAR WHAT IS BEING RECORDED AS I RECORD IT!?
I can hear playback of recorded tracks through headphones --but not as it is going in.

Riccol,
What is your setup? Are you using a mixer?

Use your soundcard's 'line-in' input for any line-level signals you want to record onto your computer. Only use your soundcard's 'mic' input if you are attaching an actual high-z microphone.

Connect 'line-out' on your soundcard to your computer speakers, or to a mixer/receiver connected to speakers. You should then be all set to record & playback using cakewalk.

You may not have a full duplex soundcard (which means that you can record AND hear what your are recording at the same time), so you may need to get a new soundcard. I had that same problem with my first soundcard which was half duplex, and then I got a full duplex card (Turtle Beach Montego) and that solved the problem.

Hope that helps. :)
