In Need Of Dynamics

Vocals sometimes sound scratchy.. like it's pushing a little too much.. I'm not sure what it is though.

Most of the problem other than the fact that I'm forced to do the vocals myself right now, is my recording chain. I need to record a dry signal but hear a processed one.
Guitar
Amp
Mixer w/ reverb
recorder
dump each track to computer
for final mix. Adding compressor

Vocals sound strained as in not enough air and overused vocal cords. Try using some dynamics in the song with the instruments, less phase shifting and some harmony with the vocals. Sounds like sustain is way overused with the strings. Tighten her up, cool song!

Interesting. Have'nt heard that about the quitar sustain. This is the first time I tried the Mix down on the computer.

the vox are fine. maybe compress how they punch sometimes.

you could cut the guitar for the verses or something.

and add another guitar part for the chorus.

and up the other instruments for the verse. (if there are any)

i think the solo guitar should keep going through the last chorus.

like how queen does it in we are the champions.

simple chord and melody chorus's...then solo..then the solo keeps going till the end of the chorus, and the outro ends it.
