For some reason, I can't import any wav files into Sample Pads on my Yamaha AW16G. Actually, I can't import from normal audio cds either. When I click on "Import" a window pops up that says "Import Prohibited" or something to that affect, and then I just have to hit "Oh, I See". Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Thanks

Yep, go to page 133 of the manual, (importing audio cd or WAV files) for details,
but basically you have to go into the utility menu, select the D.IN HDD page,
and turn digital rec ON before it will let you
rip an audio CD. This turns itself on every time you turn on the AW16G, just so the
machine will nag you not to steal other peoples music..

Wow! Thanks! It's a good thing someone has read the entire manual! I've just been reading pieces at a time while I try things on my own.

Stupid me.

Yeah, I agree that it's nice to know that others are working through the manual, which is as confusing as most manuals are.
I've already spent too much time evening figuring out simple things like recording the internal effects in stereo (use BUS mode of recording) or re-recording pad samples for a tune (first delete the old pad recording under the EDIT screen). Sometimes the manual does have such information, but it isn't clearly linked to other sections... so the hunt begins. Hooray for discussion groups!
