Importing Cubase tracks into Ptools LE

What's the best method of exporting tracks recorded in Cubase to PT?

If a specific track spans the entire length of the song, I export that selected track and it's fine. If it's only a small overdub existing on it's own track, I solo it, and use the mixdown function...this has been fine (to preserve the length of the whole song so it will load into PT where it should be) but when I go through this process with all the tracks, once their up in P tools, not all of them line up like they should. Even beyond that, now I'm running into this thing where some of them will line up some of the time, and other times will fall out of place with the other track. Should I be exporting 24 bit files for PT? When those files are loaded into Pro Tools, it converts them again. Is this a conversion thing?

I've never imported for Pro tools but i've been dumping tracks into Adobe Audition from Cubase SX. First make sure that your Pro tools session is set for the same sample rate as Cubase. Changing the bit rate shouldn't affect the length or allignment but I believe the sample rate can. I would set the markers from beginning to end and mixdown every track with the same amount of space. It will suck because you may have a 4 min file for a 30 sec part on a track but its the only real way to preserve the timeline, that im aware of. You can always edit all that blank space back out once your lined up in pro tools. I hope this helps. Im sure someone else who is more famillar with cubase/pro tools will come along.

Thanks for the response. I actually figured it out this morning. It didn't have anything to do with PT cause I loaded the files into Acid and the exact same thing happened. The only way I can find to do it successfully, is to draw in the remainding sections of all the tracks, and do mixdowns of each file seperately after soloing them. It took me about twenty minutes just to get this done, but it worked.
