IMacs + .wav's + protools

alrgiht...
i'm a PC maniac..and i will remain it...i can do anything i've ever needed with it without much trouble at all.

however - my friend has an IMAC - and recently came back from a music technology camp at Oberlin College....he brought pro tools back with him, along with a few CD's of .wav's that he had made while he was there.

1st off - he can't get his .wav's to open - can macs even read .wavs? does he need some extra software or something?
2nd - well - if they do read .wav's, how can he get those bad boys open in his mac.
3rd - anything else special i/he should know about macs and pro tools? if not, no problem - i think we'll end up figuring it out.

He needs to convert them to .aiff (one f or two, I don't know)

That is mac's version of a .wav file.



There are programs that will convert them.

Try just renaming them to .aiff files. Wav and Aiff are exactly the same. Only their file extension is different. If that doesn't work, use an acutall converter program. You could easily find one on Cnet.

From the audio menu at the top of the region bin in the edit window of PT select "convert & import".
