iMac

I just got a spanking new iMac which i plan to use with my basic recording setup that I used for pc. My only possible inputs on the mac are usb so I was planning on getting an imic to transform the line out of my mixer into usb. Is this a fairy sound plan for basic tracks?

Sure.

That should work a treat with Garage Band.

You'll probably need one with more inputs and with midi i/o if you get serious and move up to bigger music software.
