Anyone here use IMAC and Adobe audition 5.5(version for Apple?). I do Voice overs in my home studio. I use Mackie, IMAC, Adobe Audition 5.5 and M audio for interface and electrolux standard Mic used by Radio and TV. Here is my problem. I get a bit of hum from Mackie but I also get hum and background noise when I hit record into IMAC and Adobe audition 5.5. I am trying to narrow down the problem. Either Adobe Audition for MAC doesn't work or its the IMAC itself. Anyone else have issues like this using these two together? I purchased a power conditioner and it did not help.

Which m audio interface are you using?
Which electrolux mic? I googled it and came up with no results
I guess your using the makie mixer (if thats it) as a preamp going into the m audio interface via usb to the imac. ??????????
have you got the makie board going into a line in / Hi z / mic level input.
Please be more detailed so we can help. Thanks

It's highly unlikely to be anything to do with Audition. Hum is almost always an analogue problem and Audition just uses the digital information provided to it by your interface--it has no influence over the signals in the analogue domain.

As has been said, some details of you audio routing would help--but I'd be looking step by step at your cabling, the electrical grounding on your equipment and possible sources of interference like fluorescent lamps.

Hey guys thanks for your response. Mackie to M audio Pro USB to back of IMAC. Mic I am using is an Re20 EV hooked up to Mackie. I hear hum and background noise when recording say a "narration with pauses. Where as just a say 30 second V/O that's uptempo with no pauses in which case I don't hear any hum or noise. Make sense? I tried a ground conditioner but it had no effect.
