Hi all -

just wanted to ask around if anyone out there has had your mr-8 die in this particular fasion:

i was laying a track this weekend, finished and went to play it back. everything sounded and looked fine for about ten seconds into the playback and then the whole machine froze up - i couldn't even turn it off with the off switch. had to unplug it.

since then i haven't been able to get it to play back longer than 10-15 seconds without this happening. this was the first track laid for the song so there was definitely still room on the card. also: when it freezes there is no error message or anything - it just freezes mid-playback.

anyone have ideas before i send the thing off to be fixed? the machine has barely been used and this is the first problem i've had.

thanks in advance for any help....

xoxo,

sue

mr8

reformat the card , when you start the mr8 hold down the record key???

(i forget if thats right or not) if you can get it to start up just delete everything and reformat the card,

you need to use the delete unused function while recording to free up the space from bad take, everthing you do is saved and runs or of memory quick...

I've had mine freeze up a lot. Are you in extended mode? Are you using the stock cf card? Has it been on for a long time? Is it warm? Is the wall wart super hot? Are you recording in stereo? Are you running on the batteries? What version does it say when you power on in the first 5 seconds? Is this something that just happened or did it do this the first time you recorded? Do you have a usb card reader? If you do you can see if the cf card can be read at all. If it hangs up when you try to transfer you might get a more useful message thru Windows, it might say media error or something. Are you recording really, really, bad music? :)
