I'm so nervous! Will my songwriting and production skills be good enough to hang with you'all??? After sending in my song I keep second guessing. Was there enough bass? Did the compression sounded weird on a few spots? Does my voice just sound too "Joe White-Guy" to be taken seriously? I'm just a wreck. :)

But my bigger question is: After lurking around and seeing who's submitted, I think the only person who's music I've actually heard before is LI Slim. So I'm curious... what's the makeup of music? My song is pretty hard to categorize. It's sort of country/blues,rock, with harmonica, blues guitar, and a gospel choir section in the middle.

What are you guys bringing to the table?

Don't worry about it...my submission was recorded a couple years ago and it pretty much sucks....bass overcompressed, poor mixing on the low end, horrible fake drums.

Oh well, mine sucked last time too....but who cares! :)

Don't worry man.. I just love this kind of music... :)
Although my song would be slow Piano & Violin simple work, it would be good to sit next to yours. I'm curious now :)

Yo' A.C., don't feel noivous!

The original song I planned on submitting, I spent about 2 1/2 months on solely for COMPII.
It was a waste of my complete time!
I started over on anutha' crappy-@ss jammie that took 3 1/2 days, w/o all the fanciness, finesse and fanfare and said "F#ck it,
it ain't the best, but I gotta' send sumthin in!!"

Spendin' so much time trying to produce a perfect slammie, re-tracking,remixing, re-doing parts, processing, erasing etc for CompII had took ALL the fun out of creating so I ended that particular project, switched to sumthin' quick and easy, simple and fun and simply submitted what I had done in wayyyyy less time!

It's all about sharin' and enjoyin'!!!!!

I did the same thing! I spent the last month planning and working on a hit and it was a waist. I ended up sending an old song that I had recorded a year ago.

Mine is a song about firemen recorded on freeware with one old $50 microphone and an alesis keyboard in my attic.
Don't be nervous.

Don't feel nervous - the horns on mine are all over the place, the piano part is too. And the other instrument levels? who knows!

I didn't actually get to hear it on a real stereo - only my crappy $30 computer speakers after the mix.

but it sure was fun - and the best part is it was my first 'project' so I learned a whole lot about how my stuff works.

It's going to be an eye-opener to hear what everyone esle sounds like. (Should that be ear-opener?)

I can't wait.

ANd a BIG thankyou to the Slack meister for taking on this project.

Wow, I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking the same things you guys are talking about. I bought a copy of the first compilation and heard a lot of good stuff, so I was pretty nervous about commiting us to a song for this one.

I've been working with another guy off and on for over three years but until now we hadn't completed a song, so this is my first completed project. The more I listen to it the more I can hear things I'd like to change in both the mix and performance, but I'm proud that we got this far. I can't wait to work on more now.

And not only did I learn a little bit about recording, I learned a new intstrument in the process. I started as a guitarist but for this project I bought a bass and for better or worse I'm now our bass player. So not only is this my first recording project, it's my first as a bass player. Talk about being nervous.

Man, I can't wait to hear what the rest of you guys come up with.

Heh...I thought my submission sounded pretty good before I started hanging out around here. Now I know better. I probably could have touched it up some, but ufortunately my compter crashed a few weeks ago. So...eyuh...it will just have to do.

Relax - I know my production will sound weak. Or rather, sound too strong. I was going for a certain "ambiance" - that of a bulldozer running over the listener's head, repeatedly. I think I succeeded. However I have total faith that you will all find the song entertaining....
