Sinus cold all week... Sleep eludes me and singing is impossible. Out shovelling snow for three hours today - 14 inches - and feels like it's dropped into my upper chest now. I have to go out again at 8 to shovel once more before doing it all over again tomorrow.
$#$%^& Thank god I have no gigs...

Probably need to go to the doctor for meds next week - if I can get down the street in this snow. Oh yeah I pushed a few cars today too...

Ouch. Get well. Have some warm brandy. Hot tea w/ honey. It may not make you well, but you'll at least catch a buzz. Down in the chest, though keep an eye on it. Mucinex really helps. You may need a Z-pack or two. My voice coach has been fighting some bronchitis stuff for about 6 weeks.

Move to Utah, it's a chronic deal, the air quality here is the worst in the US. Especially now due to the inversion.

BTW, a Z-pack or two? Why two? One is an entire course of treatment, if it fails you need something different, however I don't suggest antibacterial meds on the net, if it gets real bad or last a ridiculous time go to a doctor, or NP, PA, whatever. Add to that azithromycin is not a drug of choice for a community caught lower respiratory infection, levofloxacin for pneumonia, doxycycline for bronchitis.

online prescribing, gotta love it.

I avoid getting sick by withdrawing from all human contact.

And stay out of the cold for goodness sake! That will only flame your condition. Get rest and some good flu medicine.

And the verdict is in.......doctor says I now have Bronchitis. So it's 2 giant pills a day for a week and nasonex. Hoping this will be it...

CLARITHROMYCIN XL 500 MG

-29 C today and I got to walk a few blocks to work each day. Can't stop shovelling my walks or I get a fine from the city..

I can empathise Gerry. I had bronchitis for 3 months last year & was developing pneumonia on top of it. It too ages to shake - i actually had 9 days off work across three weeks as the situation became complicated by laryngitis. I DID NOT shovel snow I can tell you.
Think of the positives: you CAN sing: just not at the moment.
I can't sing: no matter how rude my health I have a bottomless bucket when it comes to carrying a tune.
i also have no sick leave for a few months as the allocation is retrospective of the last day taken.
Hopefully you'll have some leave if needed, an end to the snow, and a chance to rest your voice & EVERYTHING else!

Thanks Ray - feeling better today. Glad I caught this before pneumonia. I had that as a teenager and it crippled me for 3 months. When I was real young they tested and said I was allergic to mold (i.e.penicillin). So I was stuck with some other drug that was useless - that's why the prolonged sickness. At some point in my late teens I just lied and said I was not allergic and "voila" I had no reaction. Quite a releif that I can take it.
To make matters worse, my bad shoulder/arm is acting up again. From shovelling so much snow - it's that muscle tear and/or bursitis acting up. Getting wife and daughter to help out with the shovelling as we're getting more this week.

Gerry,
As you walk to work pop on your walkman & listen to the new mixes, & the recent mastered version, of your songs - that'll get you humming & skipping.

You're not taking Penicillin, you're on a macrolide. Not even remotely related.

Wow. I'll put my flame suit on. Mentioning a Z-pack implied going to the doctor. I wasn't prescribing anything. I didn't know you could simply order anti-biotics over the internet. Never tried. Remind me again that on the internet I should not to say X when I mean X, but rather to say X + a bunch of crap and disclaimers. Z-pack isn't the drug of choice, but it's what I end up getting because I have an allergy to the preferred antibiotic.

Clarithromycin is a semi-synthetic macrolide antibiotic. Chemically, it is 6-0-methylerythromycin. The molecular formula is C38H69NO13, and the molecular weight is 747.96

I don't think Chicken soup will cure brochitis, thanks though. Out for 3.5 hours snowblowing my sidewalks and driveway. And moving snow so I have somewhere to put it for the next 2 months.
