Hey there!
I'm a pop/hip hop vocalist and decided to set up my home studio.
However I don't know much about brands and everything so I need you to tell me if this is a good deal, and if not, then maybe let me know which brands I should go for?

I found this on ebay:
Focusrite Scarlett Studio w/ Home Recording Kit - Monitors, Pop Guard, Mic Stand | eBay

And this on amazon:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/PreSonus-Au...1406885360&sr=8-1&keywords=home+recording+kit

Let me know what you think, I really need help. Don't wanna waste money on stuff that isn't worth it.

Good starting kits, don't forget you are going to need a mic stand as well.

Great! Thanks a lot!

I think I'm going to go with the first one.
It says it includes a stand + it looks more reliable.

What are you looking to do in your home studio? Just record vocals? Do you play any instruments or are you planning to just use loops/samples or virtual instruments?

I bought the Presonus AudioBox Studio (your 2nd link) to set up my home studio and it worked great for a while. I ended up upgrading to a different interface, but I still use the microphone provided to mic my amp for recording and the headphones are pretty good too IMO. I use them all the time. The 2i2 is an interface that I think many "beginners" use and it's often suggested as well.

Another thing to consider is that the 2i2 package comes with Cubase LE 6 and the Presonus AudioBox Studio comes with Studio One Artist. I use Studio One Producer and I really like it, but Cubase is used by quite a few people around here and they really like it. Maybe check out some videos on those 2 DAWs and see if one looks more appealing to you.

As for the monitors included in the eBay package I noticed that they are Bluetooth. I think I would stay away from using monitors that connected via Bluetooth, but maybe it's ok. Studio monitors is one topic that will cause lots of debate when asked around here, but if you're looking for some budget monitors to listen to the stuff you record (and it's a good idea) I would look at a set that connects via 1/4" balanced out (which I know for sure both of the above interfaces have outputs for).

Good luck. I hope this helps. Post any other questions you have and I'll try to help as much as I can.

Focusrite makes great equipment. Also, look into making some sort of reflection filter (unless you have a really great room) to help eliminate room noise.

I've been researching this a lot lately.
I've never used software to record.
I've always went to recording studios, but the studio that I've been using has recently closed, forcing me to just do it myself.
Youtube is a great resource. For example, there's an artist named Guthrie Thomas with some great videos on youtube about Presonus Studio One. It "looks" to be the easiest to use from my "newbie" point of view.
