so i am transferring facilities. i run a monthly leased rehearsal space and its time for an upgrade. the rooms i have been working with are not soundproofed, i dont really know what the previous owner did to soundproof if anything, certainly no acoustical treatment. but that is all besides the point. basically i need all of your expert opinions on the following construction:
note* there are two rows of five rooms with 18" of space between each room in a row. The hallway separating the two rows of rooms is approx 6'. there is approx 18" from the existing ceiling down to the top of my "module"
So in the existing space I will be building ten 12'x12' [finished interior dimension] rooms by way of 2x4 [2X6 ceiling] framing and insulation for the entire room. e.g. walls, drop ceiling and sub-floor.
EXT: 3/4" T&G CDX PAINTED. this will wrap each room entirely and individually. (excluding wrapping the floor)
INT WALLS: TWO LAYERS OF 5/8 SHEET ROCK SEPARATED BY GREEN GLUE.
CEILING: ONE LAYER OF 5/8 SHEET ROCK > GREEN GLUE . ONE LAYER OF 1/2" SOUNDBOARD.
SUB-FLOOR: ONE LAYER OF 3/4" T&G OSB PAINTED. CARPETED WITH 18"X18" RUBBER BOTTOMED CARPET SQUARES. for ease of access and replacement.
DOOR: A SOLID COMPOSITE DOOR WITH RUBBERIZED THRESH HOLD AND WEATHER STRIPPING. ALTERED SOUNDBOARD ON THE INTERIOR.
POWER: EIGHT OUTLETS TIED TO INDIVIDUAL CIRCUIT BREAKER BOXES LOCATED IN EACH ROOM.
LIGHTING: 4 2'X4' LAY IN LED'S heavy duty plexi over the lighting to protect against spinning guitars.
I think that about covers it, sorry so long. Anyway each room will have a korg hd3200, 2 sm57's and sm58's, cables and stands, and three mackie thump powered speakers. [one for a floor monitor.]
