Im really stuck on this

Ok so im a newb i thought this would be the best forum to ask this question if not please let me know the best place.
Im starting to record on sonar 8 producer but i don't know where to start i have the song written with a chorus too. but i look up videos on youtube on people recording and they have like 16 tracks open with a bunch of vocals on it and its only one person recording a hip hop song. what are they doing. i thought you would just record it. im sorry guys i dont know anything can someone help me on this or find me a tutorial on how to record my self as in making leads choruses and where to place them. also what is dubbing. and why do producers make the raper /singer go to the mic again and record the same thing they just said. I NEED HELP IN THIS AREA REAL BAD i want to get started on recording but i just cant because this is holding me back. thank you guys i appreciate the help.

This is best asked on the Newbie forum and maybe the Digital/Computer forum since it's not about actual recording techniques, but more about basic first-step how-to.

There are endless recording tutorials for beginners, just git Google a few different ways, you will find them, or try the Mix Bookshelf id you want to use real books:

I'm sure there are also Sonar forums where other users can give you specific info on Sonar questions.

You need to start at the beginning and get a handle on basic stuff first...and make some effort to find the info as there is plenty of it out there in hardcopy and on the Internet.
