I just downloaded the demo version of NI Fm7 and I think it sounds pretty awesome. I'm more or less looking to add "texture" and "effects" to my tunes. I plan on using the Piano Roll to program everything, I'm patient. :) I really dig rich piano sounds, string sections, and weird noises. Looking to spend up to $400.00, maybe a bit more. How is Sampletank from IK Multimedia? Any others I should look into?

Thanks.

Propellerhead's Reason is great in my book and totally affordable these days.

i like kompact but that just depends on what sample library you are using. check out http://www.kvr-vst.com/ for a pretty good softsynth resource page. lots of intruments available out there.

I've only had SE version of Sampletank, came with 1010LT. Gigastudio blows it at any side of story...

IMHO:

Giga / Kontakt for sampler player (Piano, plucked harp, etc).
NI products for analog / synth / organ.
Edirol products for GM / simple orchestral sound.

Off course, VSampler is the best since it came free with Sonar :D
