Settings up a small home studio.

Hardware:

IBM NetVista A40, 128MB, 1GHZ (gonna install 512MB soon)
M-Audio Delta 1010LT 8in/8out
2 XLR mic-level inputs (balanced), 6 line-level inputs unbalanced
On-board sound card is disabled in the BIOS

Software:

Windows XP Professional
n-Track Studio 24-bit v3.05 build 1269

Configuration:

Using ASIO input and output to the card

Every time I record using any of the inputs, I get a quick PFFFT in the WAV file, you can see the record meter in n-Track spike. The meter on the sound card mixer doesn't spike.

Can't figure it out - is it maybe a driver thing, or an n-Track thing?

Thanks in advance!!!

Figured it out - sort of

For some reason, upgrading to n-track 4.0 fixed the problem.

Too bad I had to spend $$$ to make it go away.

Considering that I now have a description of the problem and also a solution, can anyone speculate as to the specific cause of the problem?
