i'm using n-track, and the recording meter will only let incoming signal go to -0.6 dB's. it cuts every thing above that. is there a way to change it ? if i play above that the wave files peak is just a flat line. in other words it won't even let it clip no matter how loud the signal is.

Does your soundcard have a utility to calibrate your converters? This may be the problem. My Lynx One card recommends a calibration every so often. Also, n-tracks seems to have some problems with accurate metering. Hell, I pop a .wav file in 3 different applications and they all show different metering. So, for whatever that is worth to you, I just go with what the mixer for my soundcard says.

man, i tried calibrating but i don't think i can. the mixer won't help me either. no matter what i do, it still just cuts the wave off at -0.6 db. it will only let the meter go that high and the wave go that high. it's like a pre clip, clip, only it doesn't register as a clip. ahh..... i'm die'n over here!!!

anybody have any sugestions? or should i just through my f@cking computer out the window, and say screw digital recording (i'm about there)?
