Im building a computer

Hey well im building a computer and I was going to be getting a DAW but.. I thought I would just build a PC. Im not going to go pro recording I just need some GOOD quality recording for a 5 piece band 2 guitarist 1 bassist singer and drummer.

So far I have for a computer is AMD 64 3200+ 2.2ghz and 1 GB of DDR400 RAM and 200GB HARD DRIVE. Im going to be buying a External hard drive JUST for recording.

But before I do any of that I need a good card that can record well seperatly. and as for programes I dont need any I got good programes already. all I need I believe is a sound card so i can record into (BASS GUITAR DRUMS VOCALS) and was wondering what card is good for a decent price up to 200 dollars


I think i may want a USB one they seem easier for a noobie recorder like my self

how are LEXICON PRO OMEGA ? if i got this would I still need a good sound card if i got this or it wouldnt matter with quality???
 
for band recording I recommend going to firewire route... get a mobo with build in firewire ports...

USB only is good for 1 or 2 channels recording... firewilre you can do more...

then look into those M-audio firewire product, good stuff...

if budget is not an issue, you'll even have more options....

well im building a computer with good everything. so far its 1087 With out recording equipment :-\ and the most i wanna spend is up to 1500 - 1700 dollars all together
 
I was looking at some PCI recording equipment ..

why not go with that then Firewire.. firewire seems to much of a hassle

when we record we will record everything seperatly.. including the drums.. im going to mic up the drums and record them. Is that possible or am I going to have to record the drums threw 1 mic?

and out of those 3 which is the best for a noobie begginer I dont wanna spend any more money on hardware for recording except one of those 3
 
im really confused here with computer recording im more familiar with DAW recording ahhh..

after looking at that I definatly wanna go ahead with a FA-101 but I still dont no Do I still need a great sound card to get good sound quality on to a CD or does the great quality come out of the FA-101 the M-Audio


which one should I go with the FA-101 or the M-Audio 410
 
A good mic -> a good preamp -> a good soundcard will be a starting point of giving you a good sound quality....

both the card you mentioned should be good stuff... I am bias to M-audio though.. ;)

Things are starting to look expensive... $$$$$ :)
 
when I mean sound card i mean like a sound blaster from audigy not the FA-101 do I need a good card like a audigy 2? would that make a difference between sound ?(with the Fa-101)
 
forget soundblaster, audigy or whatever....

get a real audio card. :)
 
some people have reported good sound from a maya mk2 - 100 bucks/24 bit/4 inputs from tracertek.com. maybe ask for a trial ? so you can get your money back if it doesnt work for you. just make sure before you buy an audio card you tell the seller if its compatible with your particular
motherboard chipset. i dont mean the processor. i mean the chipset just to clarify ie: sis,via,nforce whatever.
