a very tight recording, however, theres clearly something missing but i cant put my finger on it. I think its top end, add some more high freq up there! get it more lighter, it sounds like im listening to it whilst im on an aeroplane.

Apart from that, i think its pretty good. Vocals are kinda like Mark Knopfler.. Get some more top end in there and youll have a good recording.

I dunno, I like the 'aeroplane' sound. It's very in your face (and very loud compared to the home-rec mp3s I've just had on the same speakers). I like it. I can't tell about the high-end on these speakers, but I reckon the top end is a touch 'lifeless' ... although addititive EQ is a dangerous tool. I'd think about it more in terms of your mic'ing - was it all done on SM57s?

I just put up a remix if anyone wants to give an opinion. I added some "air" on the top end. Thanks for the comments, I really want to get this mixing thing down.

The entire song was recorded direct-in using midi, a drum machine, and a POD. And yes the mic is a SM57.

here's the link again for both versions....

Hehe, glad my ears aren't too bad ... it had that kinda 'punchy but wtf happened to the top end?' sound of a 57. I'll have a listen to the remix tomorrow!

Sounds much better (although im listening through headphones so i dont wake up my family..)! Feels lighter and the vocals hit out alot more from the track! In my opinion, it sounds like a live recording, which i like. Gives the track a nice feel. And loving that organ :D

Nice job!

Hi

I like the first mix better. I would lower the volume of the airplane sound at the beginnig. The sound is absoltely increadible but it builds up expectations that the song don't deliver; an electro-techno rock song. The song is good so i would put the airplane sound volume lower at the beginning so it introduces the rest of the song and not steal the show. It's a good song with good vocals, drum, bass and organ.

I agree, I like the first one better to. I think the answer lies some where in the middle. Thanks for all the feed back everyone... This is the first time I did something that someone actually thought was worth listening to. I've got a lot of great songs but the art really is making them listenable.

Re-mix 3 is up and I'm happy with it.

I'm just about ready to put this one on the shelf and get started on something different.

keep the comments comming on this one though 'cause I really want to master (ha ha) the art of mixing.

Intro sound comments noted and recieved. Adjustments will be made.

Thanks all

V.
