so after about two weeks I'm finally happy with the solo. What you hear is three takes combined. Is it obvious where the takes change?

I'm not listening on the best monitors (far from it) and the mix sounds a little muddy to me- I've tried and tried, but when the bass and drums were recorded on a casette 4 track, ther's not much you can do to fix 'em.
So is it listenable over time?

feel free to tear this thing apart- maybe sometime I can get around to doing the vocals, and post the whole song.

till then,

I can't hear where the takes change at all.

Yes the drums are kinda muddy. The only thing I can really hear clearly are the cymbals/hi-hat. But I guess the only way to fix that would be to re-record it.

The solo sounds Doors-ish kinda reminds me of that 20 minute solo on "Light My Fire". My high school band won a talent show with that song! (Of course we had to cut it down to about 5 minutes though) I think your timing and intonation could be a little better.

I'm still waiting for the finished version of "Facade" ;)

In due time Mr. Lip, in due time.

Actually I was listening to "facade" tonite and I thought that the guitar sounded pretty boxy. Not to happy with what I was hearing guitar wise. I dunno if I'll retrack it, I may just try a few things different with the mix, maybe double the guitar (I should have double miced it)

as far as the intonation, are you refering to the "slide" part at the end? I'm imagining this alman bros thing going on and I can't remember the last time I seriously played slide. I just suck at it now! And the guitars are all over the place there, I threw this really wierd long bend in there that dosen't make sense. I think I may end up fading all that stuff out, just before that little outro, the songs is at almost 7 1/2 minutes by then anyways (It's sort of two songs together though)

"Light my Fire" is litterally the only guitar solo I've ever tried to play note for note- can't remember it now though- I've got no... what do you call it.. oh yeah... short term memory loss. :D That is a beautiful solo-

Yeah it's a bit muddy...second time I messed with the eq in winamp and while it helped a little, the cymbals became really annoying...lol...good energy tho...gibs
