I play the guitar and I lie in other instruments. I'm very interested in start recording (I think maybe I will study something related in the future) but I have no clue where to start. I want to start at home and fooling around at internet I find you guys. What I want to know is what do I need to record and mix music at home. I have a pentium pc with sound card (yahaha something), I have sound forge, cool edit, cakewalk, etc, a couple of crappy mics and my guitar amp, but I cant't put them togheter to make a decent work!!
So, what equipment you recommend me to buy to start recording and mixing and where can I start in order to learn how to do it well.
Hope I didn't bored you and you could understand my english.
Saludos!!

WOULD BE GLAD TO HELP YOU GET STARTED.WHAT KIND OF MONEY DO YOU HAVE TO SPEND, AND HOW ARE THE INPUTS OF YOUR SOUND CARD CONFIGURED.AND DO YOU WANT TO MIX IN THE COMPUTER OR EXTERNAL.I COULD POINT YOU IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION IF I KNEW THESE THINGS.

SORRY ABOUT THE CAPS

Well, I have 300 $ maybe 400 $ to start.
I'm not sure what do you mean about the configuration of my sound card inputs.
About mixing in my computer or external, I don't know what is better. I think that I will use a computer.
What do you recommend me?
Thank you very much for your help.
Saludos!!

Are the inputs on your soundcard RCA jacks, 1/8'' jacks, or 1/4'' jacks, and how many of them are there? If you want to record drums and don't have a kit/drummer or don't play them, you may want to invest in a drum machince, ...or even a keyboard if you think you would use it for stuff other than drums as well. Sounds like you got lots of stuff to work with already (way more than I had). I'm gonna leave it to the computer guru's to comment on how to set up everything though. Good luck!
