Been working on this one for a little while. Trying to finish up my "album" of retarded originals. I think it will fit right in. :D

I like the backing stuff during the chorus. I've always wondered what the best way to get that sort of sound is...

My only suggestion might be to bring up the lead guitar during the solo. I was expecting some big metal solo kinda thing, but it just didn't smack me in the face like I wanted it to. Otherwise, it sounds pretty good.

I don't do big metal style solos. Sorry man. It's not my thing. I don't have the chops for it anyway.

I didn't do anything fancy for the backing vox. Just sang/shouted it and slapped some reverb on it.

Heh, neither does Weezer, but they still flaunt it anyway :p Personally, I thought the solo was pretty good. Not too over the top, just a nice filler. I'm not a big fan of big metal solos, normally, that was just my all-encompassing term for loud, distorted solos.

Amazing..... guitars sound awesome, drums sound awesome, voice sounds awesome. I can't find a thing I don't like.

Oh yeah, the song....totally cool, great arrangement, beautifully played and sung and man does it have punch! Well done would be an understatement....and I'm speechless anyway. :o :D

Oh well, it's back to the drawing board for me......:D:D:D

Freaking great, my friend! I cant nit pick anything. If soemthing, I would bring up, just a little bit, the first part of the solo. That's the only thing. The song, performance and mix are great.
 
What's the album title Greg(v)arious?
Excellent song - I actually quite like the way you've arranged the solo section.
This rocks along - the intro is a total misdirection - well done.
Mind you - if you you'd continued the bleepy sounds and buried the vox you might have approached a bit of Hawkwind on the speed insane Lemmy end of things.

jeez - nice arrangement! How many hours do you have in this one, if you don't mind me asking?

Listening through #*(!@ laptop speakers -- the mix is good enough to sound pretty good this way, btw.

edit: -- OK, put it through the monitors (which aren't much better than the laptop speakers) -- awesome!!

Thanks antichef. Um, I'm not sure how many hours I have in it. I started it about a month ago maybe? I've just picked at it little by little since then. I had the guitars tracked a while back but then had to scrap em cuz I couldn't sing it in the key it was in. Once I got the key right, it just fell together.

God damn dude, you are THE MAN! Milwaukee has heard No Class, Rocket, Psych Ward, and a couple others blaring from my car system, they'll hear this one too!
 
Ok Mr. Freak, that's all rockin'. The solo is pretty screaming and scorching. :)

Man, it sounds very polished. It's a nice thing that you write songs for your style of singing and playing, 'coz it works out really well.

But! Would it hurt every now and then to make a mistake so we have something to point out? :P Just kidding man. It's good to know other home recorders gets such good quality.
 
the whole things rocks. the toms sound awsome and that swirling effect is the perfect way to kick off this song. kick ass man.

Thanks bubba. My next one is shaping up to be pretty raw and ridiculous, so maybe you can bash on that one. :p

As for writing for my style, it's really all I can do. None of my stuff is technically hard or complex. I'm a simple man. I like to stick to what I know and try to do it well. I don't reach out too far. It's limiting, but fuck it. I don't wanna play prog. ;)

Thanks dude. That intro effect was the birth of this entire song. I just recorded a little riff and was trying to learn how to automate effects in Reaper. I pushed buttons and turned knobs and just stumbled onto that intro sound and thought it would be an awesome way to lead into a song that just blasts off from there.
 
Oh right, I also meant to mention the intro sound. I thought it was really cool to build it up and just break out. :)
 
God you get great mixes! :)

Even at it's busiest, all the song parts are blending and complimenting each other instead of sounding like mud and clutter...

You rock!

Some of you senior members just amaze me. What ARE you using to record the drums?

Also, in retrospect to an earlier poster, I think the solo is perfect. Just enough. With the song moving 100 mph in the background, the drawn out notes are a nice contrast.

I'm also a big fan of all the ambient stuff (backing vox, guitar? with lots of verb from 2:50 on, and phaser at 1:45). Haha not sure if I was right with any of that, but it makes for an awesome backdrop for the song.

Kickass song overall!
