I am BRAND NEW to all this recording stuff....I have been reading a lot of the posts and the only thing I truly understand is that my ignorance is supreme....

I hope to get some help from all you seasoned veterans ...I am pretty technical oriented and have built my own computers, but this recording thing is blowing my little mind....

I am not a musician, but love music...I want to learn the technical aspects of the recording end, then maybe the creative part will rise to the top....I think it was John Lennon who said,"you dont learn this stuff, you feel it", but you got to get it to the computer...

Could you all recommend some books or other things that could help a TRUE NEWBIE start to get the feel for all this audio jargon and technique...I have played around with Guitar Studio 2, Cool Edit Pro, and Fruity Loops, but PLAY is the key word...

I would like to go ahead and get some type of system on my computer so I can start learning and will eventully build a dedicated computer...I have read about the Delta Omni Studio and AArdvark systems on this BBS, but with my knowledge level, I might as well be reading a nuclear sub manual or something...

The same goes with books....They all seem great, but what is a good all around NEWBIE guide....I konw this was long and will be shorter in the future..

Thanks to you all

There is also a good list of books on this page. I have the first one on the list and, although it is a bit outdated, I find it very good for basics.
