If you're whistling on a recording, please turn in your mics & headphones...

Beg to differ:

Focus, Scorpions, Otis Redding, The Bangles, Billy Joel, Lovin Spoonful. Those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head. Are you gonna tell Otis he can't whistle while sitting on the Dock of the Bay? Sacrilege! 😉

Microphones are for the purpose of recording sounds. In the world of music recording they’re used to record musical instruments. A talented whistler is a musical instrument just as is as a talented singer.
So…….. record it! :D

Patience was a well-known whistle track that went well. I can whistle but suck enough to make a track of it.

Whistling is an odd thing. For most if not all people(i would think), it is instinctual. No learning, no practice required. Somehow we can just whistle a (or any) particular tune. Even if it becomes too high we can automatically switch to a lower pitch, and back again once low enough! How we do that? How we know how to shape our lips?

Did "cavemen" whistle? Was it the first form of musical expression?

Hm, can tone deaf people whistle in tune?

One of the most annoying things ever? A random whistler. No particular tune, just random wanderings. Just stop, stop it.
